Last Saturday, the opening workshop of the "United by Crisis?" project took place together with citizen scientists, with a theoretical introduction to the topic in the morning and a practical exercise in identifying finds in the afternoon! We were not only particularly pleased about the good mood and the great interest of the numerous participants, but also that Mag. Martina Hinterwallner and Dr. Martin Krenn, two colleagues from the Federal Monuments Office (Department of Archaeology, Lower Austria) took the time to give us an introduction to the topic of "sites and monument protection". The field surveys will start tomorrow: Julia Längauer and Cornelia Hascher will explore the “Kurze Ried/Dürrenschletz”-site together with two teams of volunteers.
